曲げて楽しむロッド『Rakotz』
近年流行のスロージギングはストレートポンピングが主流となっております。その理由は二つあります。
その一：スロージギングロッドは高弾性で粘りが弱く、強くポンピングして煽ると折れ易い
その二：ストレートポンピングスタイルはリールの巻き上げ力とドラグ性能で細ラインでも効率良く大型魚を獲れる
スロージギングはハイピッチジギングから派生してきた新しい釣法、根物から青物まで幅広く様々な魚を釣れるのが魅力です。しかしファイト時の見た目はダイナミックさが欠けます。ジギングマンなら初心者からベテランを問わず、魚をかけた後はポンピングして、ロッドを大きく撓らせ、円を書いたロッドを見ながらジギングの楽しさを味わうのが好きですよね！
そんなアングラー達の為にオーシャンフリークスから曲げて楽しむロッドを発売しました。
その名は『Rakotz』（ラコツ）
ドイツのクロムローに在る悪魔が作ったと言われるほど美しい、水鏡に映る幻想的な『悪魔の橋』が由来です。その美しい曲線に見惚れてしまうでしょう。
Rakotzは「曲げて楽しむ」をコンセプトに設計しました。
テーパーはやはりSkyllaのファーストテーパーを継承しつつ粘り重視の為、主材のカーボンを中弾性としバランスよく配置設計する事で、反発力を持たせたまま粘り強く折れ難いブランクスに仕上げました。
遠征の手荷物預かり制限を考慮してロッドケースに入れても２mを超えないように全長６ftに維持。
既存品にも曲げて楽しむロッドは沢山有りますが、曲げても折れないようにチューブラーなら太く、厚く、またソリッドでは文字通り中身が詰まっている為に重くなりがちです。
それを克服する為にブランクス設計から力を入れています。強度を保ちつつなるべく手元に重心を維持。リールシート部に重心を置きロッドティップが下がらない様に水平に保っています。
ロッドの重量バランスが良いので持った時に持ち重りせず軽く感じ、違和感がありません。
また、折れ難いロッドによくあるティップがブヨブヨした低弾性素材特有のブレ現象を抑える為にRakotzのティップからベリーにかけて富士工業のチタンSiCガイドを６個贅沢に採用。
このセッテングのおかげでロッドバランスがさらによく、ティップの反発力も強くなりブレが減りました。
また、Skyllaではガイド数が11個だったものを、Rakotzでは12個に増やし配置し直す事でロッドを曲げた際のブランクスとラインの接触を軽減させています。
もちろんRakotzは「折れ難い」に重点を置いて開発しましたが、スロージギングロッドがあるべきロッドの反発力と感度も失わないように設計しています。

Rakotz – ‘Pump’ as the main themed
At present, the popular slow jigging method to fight a fish is mainly based on the ‘tug-of-war’ style. So why does slow jigging advocate tug-of-war fishing style to fight the fish? This is mainly due to the following two reasons:-
1. Slow jigging focuses on the rebound of the rod to impart action to the jig. The disadvantage of a high-rebound slow jig rod made of carbon fiber is that it lack toughness, and it is easy to break if fighting a fish with hard pump.
2. The ‘tug-of-war’ method mainly uses the reel drag force to subdue all kind of big fish, making fighting a fish more effectively and efficiently.
Slow jigging is a new fishing method that evolved from fast jigging. Although slow jigging can catch fish species that cannot be caught by fast jigging, many jigger, regarless they are experienced or newbie in slow jigging, still crave to pump the fish and enjoy the excitement of seeing the bend on the rod.
In order to meet the demand of this group of slow jigging fans, we at Ocean Freaks has developed a new slow jigging rod with pumping style of fighting method as the theme. Its name is “Rakotz”
The origin of the name comes from the beautiful arch bridge “Rakotz” in a small town in Germany. The beautiful arch bridge Rakotz is said to be built by the devil, therefore it is also known as the Devil’s Bridge. We believe the moment our fishing rod bend to an arc, it will be as pretty as the Devil’s Bridge “Rakotz”.
The main objective of Rakotz research and development is based on the pumping style of fighting the fish.
The main features are as follows:
1. The rod action continue to inherits the 3:7 action of our high-end orthodox slow jigging rod Skylla. However Rakotz is built with lower tonnage carbon fiber to increase its toughness, so that the rod is not easily break when pump and lift during the fight.
2. Taking consideration in terms of size and length limitation for angler on fishing expedition by plane, we have designed it to be a 6-foot rod.
3. At present, there are a lot of pump and lift slow jigging rod in the market, but most of them are characterized with heavy and thick rods, showing heavy rod butt and serious imbalance rod. This is particularly true for solid blank fishing rods. Although the rod is slimmer, but because they are solid, the rod is poor in rebound and super heavy.
In order to overcome the above drawbacks, we have worked hard on the design of the rod blank and the assembly of its components, so that the center of gravity of Rakotz is maintained near the reel seat. Because the rod is well balanced overall, it will not feel heavy in the hand, bringing a very lightweight feeling .
4. The common feature of a rod with solid rod blanks is that the rod tip is slow in action. This is a common problem with the use of low-tonnage carbon fiber. In order to overcome this problem, we placed 6 Fuji SIC titanium alloy guides from the tip of the rod. The SIC titanium alloy guide lightened the tip of Rakotz, making it more stable and highly elastic, and the sensitivity is greatly increased.
5. One of the main reasons for rod breakage is that when the rod is bent too much, the pe line falls to the inside of the rod arc, so that the pe line pulls the guide ring, generating excessive torque force and break the rod. In order to prevent the 6-foot rod from breakage due to this torque energy, we use 12 guide rings ( generally 10-11 guides for other rods), so that no matter how sharp the arc is on the rod, the pe line will be remains parallel to the arc of the rod, and not easy to cause torsion to damage the rod.
It is easy to make a rod that is not easy to break, but it is not so easy to make the rod high in rebound force and high sensitivity at the same time. After all, the lack of high rebound and high sensitivity of a slow jigging rod will directly affects the operation of slow jigging and the fishing success.
To summarize, Rakotz is:
